Movement and change are important aspects of my public and studio work. I value surprise and look for multiple meanings and gently humorous sub-texts, to keep my art fresh and a bit mysterious. I hope the work sparks unexpected thoughts and conversations, to reveal new meanings over time.
When people pass by large sweet gum pods that are both playful and a bit prickly, they may laugh, or dance, or think about how new development affects a historic downtown. I am interested in how we navigate and understand the inevitable and frequent changes in our world today.
In my own continuing explorations, I appreciate evolving partnerships with friends and strangers, flowing water and scientists, traffic and light, time and color.
